Twitter giveaway picker

Paste the accounts that entered your giveaway on X, then draw random winners and backups. Repeats count once, your own account can be left out, and the draw runs in your browser.

0 unique entrants.

How to pick a giveaway winner on X

  1. Collect the entrants: the accounts that replied, reposted or quoted your post. Our guide to seeing who reposted a tweet shows how to list reposters. For replies and quotes, see exporting tweet replies and seeing quote tweets.
  2. Paste them above, one per line. Usernames, @mentions and profile links all work.
  3. Leave out your own account and any team accounts, then choose winners and backups.
  4. Pick, then copy the result, with its time and list fingerprint, into your announcement.

X’s own guidelines for giveaways

X’s Guidelines for Promotions on X ask hosts to discourage duplicate entries. People who create many accounts to enter more than once risk having them suspended, so X suggests a rule that anyone using multiple accounts is ineligible. It also warns against rules that reward posting the same thing over and over.

X adds that a public search may not show every entry, since some posts are filtered from search. Asking entrants to mention your account lets you see their posts in your notifications.

Why the draw is fair

Each entrant counts once, however many times they appear or however their name is typed. The winners come from a Fisher-Yates shuffle driven by crypto.getRandomValues, with no bias from the order you pasted. The fingerprint lets you show anyone the exact list you drew from.

Questions

Is the draw really random?

Yes. It uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator, crypto.getRandomValues, and a shuffle that gives every entrant the same chance at every place. Nothing is weighted by order, follower count or anything else.

Is my list sent anywhere?

No. The list is read and the winners are drawn in your browser. Nothing is sent to Weir or anyone else.

What is the SHA-256 fingerprint for?

It proves which list you drew from. The fingerprint is taken of every entrant in lower case, sorted, one per line, so anyone with the same list gets the same value, and a changed list gets a different one.

Why pick backups?

A winner may not reply, or may turn out to break your rules. Backups are drawn in the same shuffle, in order, so you can move down the list without drawing again.

Can I pick a winner from reposts or replies?

Yes. Collect the accounts that reposted or replied, paste one per line, and draw. The links below show how to get those lists.
