X API alternative
A Twitter (X) API alternative that charges for results, not tiers.
Search posts, read threads, quotes, profiles, followers, Lists and Spaces with one key — no X developer account, no monthly plan, and no charge for calls that fail.
5,000 free credits every month · no card needed
Why people look for an alternative
X's API is now pay-per-use: reading a post costs $0.005, and a user or follower record $0.010, with a monthly cap on post reads before you need an enterprise contract. Tracking a handful of topics adds up quickly, and you still need a developer account, an app, and OAuth to manage.

No developer account
Sign up with email or Google and get a key. One key covers X and Reddit.
Everything public on X
Search with filters, posts in bulk, replies, threads, quotes, reposters, edit history, long-form Articles, profiles, followers, Lists and Spaces.
X's own field names
Responses keep X's vocabulary — likeCount, retweetCount, viewCount, conversationId — so code written against X's model maps over directly.
Built for agents too
Every endpoint is also an MCP tool, so Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor can call it after a one-time sign-in.

Questions
Is this the official X API?
No. Weir is an independent service that reads public X data. It is read-only: it never posts, likes or follows, and it never needs your X account.
Can I post tweets with Weir?
No. Weir only reads public data. If you need to publish, use X's official API for the writes and Weir for the reads.
How fresh is the data?
Each request is served live from X, with short caching of identical requests, so a search returns posts published moments ago.
What happens when a request fails?
You are not charged. A call costs credits only when it succeeds, and every response states its charge in the x-credits-charged header.
