Which X search operators work
Every operator below ran through a real X (Twitter) search on 27 October 2026, and we checked each post that came back against what the operator promises. 39 of 42 worked.
X changes search without notice, so this is re-run every month. The searches go through Weir, our own API, which passes operators to X as typed.

How we test
- Each operator runs once, newest posts first, asking for up to 10 posts. Every post that comes back is checked against the operator: the author for
from:, the like count formin_faves:, the reply id forfilter:replies, and so on. - Works means at least 3 posts came back and at least 90% matched. Partly means half to 90% matched; Ignored, fewer than half, which usually means X dropped the operator and searched the rest.
- A count X did not report is left out rather than counted as a miss.
list:and the location operators are marked by whether posts come back, because a post does not show List membership or where it was sent from. - The searches and the checks are open: the script is in our repository, and each search used here costs about 11 Weir credits. Questions
Does Twitter advanced search still work?
Mostly. On 27 October 2026, 39 of the 42 operators we test returned only posts that honour them. The table shows the rest, with what each search returned.
How are since: and until: dated?
As whole days, and until: includes its own day. Through Weir's API, X counted the days in Japan time (UTC+9) in October 2026. For exact bounds use since_time: and until_time: with Unix seconds.
Why does an operator say No results?
The search returned nothing, so there was nothing to judge. Location operators usually end up here: few posts carry a location now.
How often is this updated?
Monthly. A status that changes goes into the changelog on this page with its date.
