How it differs from X's own MCP
X publishes its own MCP tooling, which works through your X account and bills reads at X's pay-per-use API rates. Weir is independent: it reads public data without your account, so it suits research and monitoring, and it is billed per result at Weir's rates.

Questions
Can it post or reply on X?
No. Every tool is read-only and annotated as such, so clients know it cannot change anything.
Which clients does it work with?
Any MCP client that supports remote servers: Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and others.
How is it billed?
Per result: an X post is 1 credit plus 1 per request, a profile 2. 5,000 credits are free every month.
Is there a REST API as well?
Yes. Every MCP tool is a REST endpoint under https://api.weirapp.io/v1/x, with the same key.
