How to See Who Retweeted a Tweet on X in 2026
You can see who retweeted a tweet on X, but only the latest 100 reposters, and likes stay private. Where to tap, and how to export retweeters to CSV.

To see who retweeted a tweet, open the post on X and tap its Reposts tab: X lists the latest 100 reposters.
This guide is for you if you're checking who shared a post, yours or anyone else's. You get the taps that work today, what X hides, and a short Python script that saves retweeters to a CSV.
We run Weir, the API in the script. This prints the first page of retweeters:
import os, requests
post_id = "1800634371906380067" # the digits after /status/ in the post URL
r = requests.get(
f"https://api.weirapp.io/v1/x/posts/{post_id}/retweeters",
headers={"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['WEIR_API_KEY']}"},
params={"limit": 100}, timeout=60,
)
for account in r.json()["data"]:
print(account["username"], account["followersCount"])
The whole guide in four steps:
- Open the postTap or click it so it fills the screen.
- Open its activityOn the web, click View activity, or View post activity in the post's menu.
- Pick a tabReposts lists who reposted. Quotes lists quote posts.
- Export the listCall the retweeters endpoint and write each account to a CSV row.
How to see who retweeted a tweet on X
Open the post, then its Reposts tab. X's help center says that from the post detail page, you "tap the Reposts tab" to see who reposted, and the Quote posts tab for quotes.
Where that tab sits depends on where you look:
- In the X app, the post detail page has Reposts and Quote posts tabs, per X's help center.
- On the web, roboin.io's February 2026 guide opens a post's activity with View activity, or View post activity in its ••• menu.
- From the repost icon, Circleboom's April 2026 guide picks View Quotes, then the Reposts tab.
- In Notifications, X lists your own recent reposts and who made them.
X moves these screens often, so your labels may differ. The list works on anyone's public post, not only yours.
Why can't I see who retweeted my tweet?
Often because X keeps the list short. Its help center says X "will only show up to the most recent 100 people who reposted any public post".
Other reasons the list looks wrong:
- The tab moved. On the web, look for View activity under the post first.
- Your account is protected. X says protected posts can't be reposted at all, so there's no list.
- They quoted you. A quote post sits in the Quote posts tab, not under Reposts.
- A like isn't a repost. Likes are a separate list, and a private one.
- Some quotes go missing. The roboin.io guide warns that "some quote reposts may not be displayed".
So you see likers on your own posts only, and Weir can't return likers either.
Step 1: Fetch retweeters with the API
To keep the list, or sort it by follower count, you need it as data. Weir's endpoint is GET /v1/x/posts/{id}/retweeters, where the id is the digits after /status/ in the post's URL.
You pass limit, up to 100, and a cursor for the next page. Sign up with no card, create a key, then:
pip install requests
export WEIR_API_KEY="weir_live_..."
One shared session keeps the auth header in one place:
import os, time, requests
session = requests.Session()
session.headers["Authorization"] = f"Bearer {os.environ['WEIR_API_KEY']}"
We tried it on 22 October 2026 on @Engineering's post about private likes. That post has 8,790 reposts. We used the MCP tool for the same endpoint, with limit: 5:
→ get_x_retweeters {"id": "1800634371906380067", "limit": 5}
← 5 accounts · 6 credits · meta.nextCursor: "v2.qwO7…"
We don't show those five accounts, because they are private people. Each item looks like this example from the retweeters API reference:
{
"id": "1593274519387648000",
"username": "example_dev",
"name": "Example Developer",
"description": "Building developer tools. Posts about APIs and data.",
"location": "Lisbon",
"verified": true,
"followersCount": 12840,
"createdAt": "2022-11-17T15:04:05.000Z",
"protected": false
}
Keep id as a string. description and location can be null.
Step 2: Export retweeters to CSV with Python
This generator walks the pages for you and stops when meta.nextCursor is null:
def retweeter_pages(post_id, max_pages=20):
params = {"limit": 100}
for _ in range(max_pages):
r = session.get(f"https://api.weirapp.io/v1/x/posts/{post_id}/retweeters",
params=params, timeout=60)
if r.status_code == 429: # too fast: wait, then retry the same page
time.sleep(int(r.headers.get("Retry-After", "10")))
continue
r.raise_for_status() # 402: out of credits; 404: no such post
page = r.json()
yield page["data"]
if not page["meta"]["nextCursor"]:
return
params["cursor"] = page["meta"]["nextCursor"]
Then write one row per account. You can pass a post URL or just its id:
import csv, re, sys
link = sys.argv[1]
match = re.search(r"status/(\d+)", link)
post_id = match.group(1) if match else link
FIELDS = ["id", "username", "name", "followersCount", "verified",
"location", "description", "createdAt", "url"]
with open(f"retweeters-{post_id}.csv", "w", newline="", encoding="utf-8") as file:
writer = csv.DictWriter(file, fieldnames=FIELDS, extrasaction="ignore")
writer.writeheader()
for accounts in retweeter_pages(post_id):
writer.writerows(accounts)
file.flush()
What the loop gets right:
- A
nullcursor is the only stop. The last call comes back empty and costs 1 credit. max_pagescaps the bill. Lower it while you test.429and402differ. A429clears afterRetry-After, but a402means you're out of credits.
We checked that last call on 22 October 2026, with an @XDevelopers post that had two reposts:
→ get_x_retweeters {"id": "2107952088038998396", "limit": 5}
← 2 accounts · 3 credits · nextCursor set
→ the same call with that cursor
← 0 accounts · 1 credit · nextCursor null
Step 3: Get the quote posts too
Quotes often say more than reposts, because people add their own words. GET /v1/x/posts/{id}/quotes returns them, each with the original embedded as quotedPost.
It takes sort, either latest or top, and up to 20 posts per page. Our generator works for quotes if you swap retweeters for quotes and set limit to 20.
We asked for the top three quotes of @XDevelopers' pay-per-use launch post:
→ get_x_quotes {"id": "2019881223666233717", "limit": 3, "sort": "top"}
← 3 posts · 4 credits · each with quotedPost
One caution from our tests: an @XDevelopers reply showing one quote returned none. Counts and lists don't always match.
What does exporting retweeters cost?
Weir charges you one credit per account, plus one per call. A full list of a hundred retweeters costs about 102 credits, counting the empty last call.
TwitterAPI.io is cheaper per account than our $5 pack. Its price list shows $0.00015 per retweeter returned.
Your free monthly credits on Weir cover about 4,900 retweeters. How Weir compares on other X jobs is on our Twitter API alternative page.
X's own endpoint is GET /2/tweets/{id}/retweeted_by, at up to 100 accounts a page. It needs an X developer app with credits. X's pricing page lists a user read at $0.010 but doesn't name this endpoint, so check what your console charges.
When not to use Weir
- You just want a quick look. The Reposts tab in the app costs nothing.
- Price per account matters most. TwitterAPI.io charges less per retweeter.
- You need who liked a post. Weir can't return likers; on your own posts, X's app shows them.
- Your company needs a contract with X. Weir isn't licensed by X, so access can change.
FAQ
Can you see who retweeted a post on X?
Yes, on any public post. Open it and tap the Reposts tab, or on the web look for View activity first. X lists only the most recent 100 reposters, so a viral post shows part of its list.
How do you see who retweeted someone else's tweet?
The same way as your own: open the post and pick Reposts. X shows reposters of any public post. You can't see who liked someone else's post, though, because likes went private in June 2024.
Can you see who liked a tweet on X?
Only on your own posts. X's engineering team made likes private in June 2024, so authors see who liked their posts and nobody else does. The like count still shows on every post.
Is it OK to export someone's retweeters?
The list is public, but it is still about people. Keep only what you need, never use it for spam, and follow X's terms and your privacy law. This isn't legal advice.
