Twitter Search History: See, Clear, Re-run (2026)

Where X keeps your Twitter search history, what its Help Center says about clearing and saving searches, who can see them, and how to re-run any search.

Cover image: What X keeps of your searches

Your Twitter search history sits in X's search box, but X's Help Center documents saved searches, not your recent ones.

This guide sorts what X (Twitter) says from what it doesn't: seeing, clearing and saving searches, who can see them, and the data archive. Then you get a way to re-run any past search on purpose.

Keep your important searches as text, like this one, and they work on any device:

Where does X keep your Twitter search history?

For the regular app, X documents one list, your saved searches, and says nothing about recent ones. Here is what we found in X's own pages:

Search history Where X says it shows What X documents
Saved searches (app) Search box, under Saved How to save and remove
Saved searches (web) "Not available on x.com" Two pages that disagree
Recent searches No help page No help page
X Pro history Drop-down under the search A "Clear history" link
Your data archive Settings, Your X data No searches in its list

X's saved-searches page says the next time you tap the search box, "a pop-up menu will display your Saved searches."

How to save a search on X

X's steps are for the app:

  1. Open ExploreTap the Explore tab.
  2. Run the searchType it into the search box.
  3. Save itTap the overflow icon at the top of the results, then Save.
  4. Find it laterTap the search box. It's listed under Saved.
  5. Remove itTap the X next to it under Saved.

Is there a limit? X's Help Center doesn't state one.

What about the web? X's pages disagree. Its search guide, in a June 2026 copy, lists "Save this search" on desktop. Its saved-searches page, in a July 2026 copy, says "Saved searches are currently not available on x.com."

So if the web menu shows no Save option, save the search in the app.

How to clear Twitter search history

It depends on which list you mean:

  • A saved search: tap the search box, then the X next to it under Saved, as X's steps say.
  • X Pro history: X says to click "Clear history" at the bottom of the search drop-down.
  • Recent searches: X's Help Center gives no steps. Open the search box and look for a clear option next to the list. We couldn't test it for this post.

Can others see my Twitter search history?

Not through any feature X documents. X's Privacy Policy lists what the public can see, such as your profile and posts. Searches aren't on that list.

X itself does keep them. The same policy counts search terms in the log data it collects, even ones you typed but never sent.

Why is my Twitter search history not showing?

If your saved searches disappeared, two reasons fit what X documents:

  • You're on x.com. X's saved-searches page says saved searches "are currently not available on x.com," so app saves may not show there.
  • You removed it. The X next to a saved search deletes it, by X's own steps.

Other causes, like signing out, reinstalling the app or switching devices, aren't covered in X's Help Center. We can't confirm them, so keep the searches you care about as text.

Does the X archive include search history?

X doesn't say so. Its archive page, in an October 2026 copy, lists your profile, posts, DMs, media, followers, Lists, inferred interests, ads data "and more." Searches aren't named.

X's "Your X data" page doesn't list them either. Some guides claim the archive holds saved searches, but X doesn't confirm it, and we had no archive to check.

Our free Twitter archive viewer opens the posts in your archive, not searches.

Re-run a past search with advanced search operators

A search saved as text is history X can't lose. It works in the app and on x.com, and you can paste it anywhere.

Rebuild it from what you remember, then add the dates you need:

from:NASA Artemis -filter:replies since:2026-10-13 until:2026-10-20

Hunting one post you saw, not a search you ran? Use how to find a tweet you saw.

Run a daily search for you with a Weir monitor

If you run the same search every day, a Weir monitor can run it for you. We run Weir, an API for public X data.

A monitor re-runs a saved query on a schedule and reports only new posts. This is adapted from Weir's monitor docs, set to X only:

curl --request POST \
  --url https://api.weirapp.io/v1/monitors \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $WEIR_API_KEY" \
  --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
--data '{"name": "Artemis news", "schedule": "daily",
"target": {"kind": "search", "query": "Artemis NASA", "sources": ["x"]}}'

Each run costs 1 credit plus 1 per new X post, as of October 2026:

1credit for a run that finds nothing new
21credits for a run with 20 new posts
1monitor on the free tier
5,000free Weir credits every month

Daily is the default, and hourly runs need a paid tier. Each run reads one page, about 20 of the newest posts.

When not to use Weir

  • You re-run a search once in a while. X's search box and a note cost nothing.
  • You want your own search history. Weir reads public posts, not your account's searches, likes or bookmarks.
  • Your search gets hundreds of posts a day. One page per run misses the rest, so narrow the query.
  • Price per post matters most. TwitterAPI.io lists $0.15 per 1,000 tweets as of October 2026.

FAQ

How do I see my search history on Twitter?

Tap the search box in the X app. X's Help Center says your saved searches show there, under Saved. X has no help page on recent searches, and it says saved searches aren't available on x.com.

How do I delete my Twitter search history?

For a saved search, tap the search box, then tap the X next to it under Saved. In X Pro, click "Clear history" under the search drop-down. X's Help Center gives no steps for the recent searches list.

Can others see my Twitter search history?

Not through anything X documents. X's Privacy Policy lists your profile and posts as public, not your searches. X does log your search terms itself, including ones you typed but never submitted.

Does the Twitter archive include search history?

X's archive page doesn't list searches among the files it names. It covers posts, DMs, media, followers, Lists and ads data, "and more." We couldn't confirm either way without an archive to check.
