Free tool

Twitter ID finder

Get the numeric user id of any X account from its username, or turn an id back into a username. No X account needed.

3 credits a lookup, from your free Weir credits (5,000 a month, no card).

Why the id matters

Usernames change hands: when someone renames their account, their old handle can be taken by someone else. The user id stays with the account for life, so it is the safe way to store, follow or monitor an account. Accounts made since 2016 also carry their creation time inside the id, which the tweet ID to date converter can read.

To look up many accounts at once from code, see the user id lookup guide. To check what an account was called before, see Twitter username history.

Questions

What is a Twitter user id?

Every X account has a permanent number, its user id, such as 11348282 for @NASA. The username (handle) can change; the id never does. APIs, bots and tools use the id to follow an account reliably.

How do I find someone's Twitter id from their username?

Type the username, with or without @, or paste the profile link, and press Run. The tool shows the id with a button to copy it.

Can I turn a user id back into a username?

Yes. Paste the numeric id instead of a username. The tool shows the account's current username and name, which also tells you if the handle has changed.

Is it free?

Yes, with a free Weir account: 5,000 credits every month, no card. A lookup uses 3 credits.

Why does the id finder need an account?

It reads the profile live from X, which costs a little per lookup, so it runs on your account's free monthly credits. You do not need an X account.

Does it work for protected or suspended accounts?

A protected account's profile and id are shown, but its posts are not. A suspended or deleted account cannot be found.
