To give Claude Cowork Twitter access, add Weir's MCP server as a custom connector, then sign in once.

Cowork can then search X (Twitter), read posts and threads, and save what it finds as a file.

It only reads, so it never posts as you. We run Weir, so weigh our view knowing that. This is the one thing you paste:

Claude Cowork Twitter setup: add Weir as an MCP connector

Cowork uses the MCP connectors on your Claude account. Anthropic says remote connectors are "configured and brokered through your Claude account", in every client, Cowork included. So you add Weir once, the same way as for chat.

Our Claude setup guide covers chat and Claude Code, and these are the Cowork steps:

  1. Open ConnectorsIn Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, then + Add, then Add custom connector.
  2. Paste the URLName it Weir, enter https://api.weirapp.io/mcp and click Continue.
  3. Keep the detected sign-inLeave the settings Claude detects as they are, and click Add.
  4. Sign in to WeirWeir's consent screen opens. Sign in and approve.
  5. Check it in CoworkStart a task and ask "What's my Weir usage?" Cowork calls get_usage, which is free.

On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds Weir once: Organization settings, then Connectors, then Add, then Custom, then Web. Each member then clicks Connect and signs in to their own Weir account.

Tools missing in a task? Open the + menu in the task box and switch Weir on. Anthropic's Cowork guide says that menu decides which connectors Claude can use.

Approving a Weir tool can't change anything on X. By default, a Weir connection can only read public data and check your usage. Anthropic still advises you to connect only servers you trust.

Can Claude Cowork do Twitter research? A weekly brief

Yes. Anthropic says Cowork brings "Claude Code's agentic capabilities to knowledge work beyond coding". So it can run the whole job: search, read, write and save.

A weekly brief on a company you follow makes a good first task, so paste this prompt:

Use Weir to find original X posts from @AnthropicAI and @claudeai in the
past 7 days. Write a one-page brief: what they announced, the five most-liked
posts with like counts and links, and anything worth a closer look.
Save it as anthropic-x-brief.md.

The tool it needs is search_x, with fromUsers, since and onlyOriginal. For a big launch, get_x_thread reads the whole thread.

We ran that first call through Weir's MCP server on 22 October 2026, with a small limit:

→ search_x {"fromUsers": ["AnthropicAI", "claudeai"], "since": "2026-10-15T00:00:00Z",
            "onlyOriginal": true, "limit": 3}
← 3 posts · 4 credits (1 + 3 × 1) · nextCursor set
31,853 @claudeai We're opening a research preview of Claude Duet, a new app...
1,765 @AnthropicAI Anthropic is a Public Benefit Corporation. Today, we're...
6,409 @claudeai Claude Security now keeps up with your code as it changes...

The cursor came back set, so more posts were waiting; a real run at limit: 20 gets a full page in one call.

Weir's reply also spells out the next call, cursor included, so Cowork can fetch the next page without guessing.

To make it weekly, schedule the same prompt:

  1. Open ScheduledIn the left sidebar, click Scheduled, then New task, then Set up manually.
  2. Paste the promptName the task, paste the prompt above and pick weekly. Then save.
  3. Leave the folder emptyA task that needs local files runs only on your computer, Anthropic says.

Other scheduled tasks run even when your computer is asleep. Each run is its own Cowork session, and you'll find the file it delivers there.

What does a weekly X brief cost?

Weir bills you a credit per call plus a credit per X post, and failed calls are free.

4credits for the 3-post call above
21credits for a 20-post search
84credits for four weekly runs of it
5,000free Weir credits every month

Paid packs start at $5 and never expire, as of October 2026. Every rate is on our pricing page.

At any pack's rate, a month of these briefs costs under 2 cents.

Cowork also draws on your Claude plan's usage, and Anthropic says multi-step tasks with connected apps use more of it.

If it doesn't work

  • Cowork answers from memory. Switch Weir on in the + menu, or start the prompt with "Use Weir to…".
  • Team won't let you add it. Only Owners and Primary Owners can add connectors, so ask one.
  • The URL went into claude_desktop_config.json. That file is for local servers. Weir is remote, so add it under Connectors.
  • Scheduled runs need your laptop on. Tasks with a local folder run only on your computer. Clear the folder field.
  • A search comes back empty. Widen since or drop a keyword. Our month-long search for "Cowork" from both accounts found nothing and still cost 1 credit.
  • Weir returns 402. Your credits ran out, and retrying won't help. Add credits or wait for next month's grant.

When not to use Weir

  • Your task has to post, reply or DM. Weir is read-only. Composio's X connector, for one, lists posting and DM tools.
  • The data is your own and private. Weir reads public posts, not your bookmarks, DMs or home timeline.
  • Price per post matters most. TwitterAPI.io lists $0.15 per 1,000 tweets as of October 2026, less than we charge.
  • You need a guarantee. Weir isn't licensed by X or affiliated with it, so access can change.

FAQ

Can Claude Cowork post tweets?

Not through Weir, which only reads public X data. Cowork can post only through a connector with write access to your account. Anthropic warns that Claude can act in connected services with your permissions, so read each tool approval before you allow it.

Which Claude plans include Cowork?

Cowork is on paid plans: Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, per Anthropic's help center. The Free plan can add one custom connector but can't run Cowork. On the web and mobile apps, Cowork is in beta for Team, and Enterprise needs an admin to turn it on.

How do I add an MCP server to Claude Cowork?

Add it as a custom connector: Customize, then Connectors, then + Add, then Add custom connector. Paste the server's URL and sign in. Cowork shares the connectors on your Claude account, so there's no separate Cowork setup.

Do Cowork's scheduled tasks need my computer on?

Usually not. Anthropic says scheduled tasks run "even when your computer is asleep", and a Weir-only task needs nothing local. A task that needs local files or apps is the exception: it runs only on your computer.

How do I stop Cowork reading X?

Revoke it under Agent connections, on the API keys page of your Weir dashboard, and it stops working. You can also remove Weir under Customize, then Connectors, in Claude.
